THE TALKING SANDWICH

POLICY RIPS ASIDE, THE SUSPICIOUS PR STRATEGY that put this Robert Gibbs buffoon in the White House Press Secretary slot simply to play the inept front man designed as an administrative contrast and counterweight to the messianic fluency of the eternal candidate named Barack Hussein Obama (except when his teleprompter chokes), seems apparent to all but the most dedicated of partisan players.

And I suspect the pick of Joe Biden as VP was for the same reason. Make the highly brokered showmanship of Barry the Obama look good via the manipulation of exaggerated comparison.

Wasn't Joe Biden sold to the voting public as a strong foreign policy wonk? But what's he been kept doing? The President himself has laughingly informed the public that he's anointed Joltin' Joe as watchdog for the domestic stimulus money, while BHO himself calls the foreign policy shots from the shadows, afraid to confront, or even face those foreign counterparts he is stiffing or the military leadership he commands yet ignores.

Remember how half the country railed against the supposed grammatical ineptitude of George Bush?

Opinions still rage. By playing his media games at the G-20 summit, Obama has managed to insult what's left of our allies, insuring the world is an even more dangerous place.

His dramatic disclosure of Iran's "secret" nuclear facility that he has known about since last November, the same one that some of our allies have known about for several years, has made him the laughing stock of the world. Perchance, to all those free of blinders, one can't help but notice that this president has confirmed to the world that he just might be the Clown-In-The-White-House, a title dubbed to him by certain number of fallen Democrats who saw him up close during the primaries.

Because Mr. Obama deliberately embarrassed them at the G-20 meeting, China, France, Great Britain, and Russia will now move to extract a high price for cooperating with the US on the Iran issue, and it should come as little surprise should the nations actually work to embarrass the president and the United States.

Under George Bush some of our allies didn't like the US, but they respected our status and our resolve. Under apologetic and weak Obama, they no longer respect the US, and seek ways to exploit our weaknesses with even more diligence than in ordinary times. They see, according to sources close to French President Nicolas Sarkozy that Obama is nothing more than what he appears to be—an egotistical, bumbling showman in an empty suit, despite all his dedicated followers on the US Left and in the media who try to paint this man, tied to his teleprompter except when giggling late nights with David Letterman, as the greatest statesman and intellectual America has ever seen, and I mean ev-aaaaah!

Too much skin in the game to admit they were duped, or perhaps they just love cashing those George Soros-funded checks they get in the mail? Who knows? But we remain, indeed, a nation divided. A quick spin around the media turf and channel wars is enough to tell us everything we wanted to know but were afraid to ask about where our country is now headed and even why we somehow intuit that the gear-grinding propaganda machines on both sides are only now just warming up.

REJECTING THE MEDIA KOOL-AID

THE FOX NEWS WATCH crew compare the relative lack of media reportage of those Joe Biden's recent and rather frightening remarks with the wall to wall coverage of Sarah Palin's new wardrobe during the same time frame as proof positive of media bias in this election. Note that three of the five talking heads are liberal types, but most agree that notions of non-bias are greatly exaggerated...

JOLTIN' JOE BIDEN RIDES AGAIN

HERE IT IS. We knew this gimme was coming down the pike, and it's a real spooker. Hear the unmistakable warning in a Joltin' Joe Biden's stump speech of a coming crisis once Obama is elected POTUS.

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee said at the Seattle fundraiser, "it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said, including the Middle East and Russia as possibilities, "and he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you—not financially to help him—we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

Biden also mentioned the current economic crisis. "Gird your loins," Biden told the crowd. "We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride.

Uh Joe, why don't you lay out those four or five scenarios for us, Enquiring mionds want to know. Or perhaps we'll just vote for John McCain. He's probably not THE ONE who the Soviets, or the Iranians, or the Syrians, or al-Qaeda will need to test since they already know how he will play the game of chicken.

Or would they?

But of course the ever hapless corporate MSM are salivating at what they caricature as more of the same old GOP dirty tricks, now accusing the McCain camp of using—OMG can you guess it, yes, more of those nasty, unsubstantiated fear tactics—in running the ad you just watched at the top of this entry.

Uh, friends, let's see. Those are Joltin' Joe Biden's own words, his very own daisy chain, or perhaps in this case, his very own daisy cutter in what was spoken in earnestness to rally his latte-soaked Seattle troops a mere ten days ago. Can I get a witness? Amen! Thank God Almighty!

Fact is I heard him mouth those words, and I also read that he, or rather his current boss man—the junior senator from the state of Illinois—Barack Obama try to swashbuckle his way out of it later by characterizing that section of Joltin' Joe's speech as nothing more than rhetorical flourishes. Is that how they lift and separate the heavy in Southside Chicago these days? Whew! Pathetic misdirection is all these embarrassing Obama media folks can seem to muster.

Yeah, I know. Both sides do it. No pledge here.

SHUT UP ALREADY, PALIN IS QUALIFIED

ALL THE NOISE FROM THE LEFT leaves me with one realization when speaking of vice-presidential candidates and their levels of experience and readiness: the Left is not very swift. I found this at another website.

Need a reason that the Republican VP candidate is more qualified for President that the democrat presidential candidate?

Question: What is America ’s first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States?
Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.

Question: What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty?
Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard

Question: Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard?
Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism?
Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party?
Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

THOUGHT POLICE ON THE PROWL

THIS ASTOUNDS AND FRIGHTENS ME. America is being taken over by goon squads of one form of another. We are being set up for misery. Why and by whom? This who conspiracy is evidently much larger and more complex than candidate Obama himself, a mere tool in the hands of someone or some organization more sinister.

But what do I know? Nothing. Nothing is what I know. Propaganda and heresay is not evidence.

So, despite the total sense of helplessness some of us feel, here is another whistle in the wind suggesting that if you didn't have enough reasons to vote for Obama already, hold onto your cap because here's a doozy.

His running mate Joe Biden, speaking Speaking to an audience at a Seattle fundraiser, has now reportedly said that if Obama is elected, “We’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you—not financially to help him—we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

Got that? Vote for Obama if you want a target painted on the USA...

Biden did not mince words, saying, “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator President of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said.”

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities.

Read it all.

The Chinese brought down a US military plane and held the crew during the first months of the Bush administration. I guarantee you Hu Jintao thinks Barack Obama is swahili for “come take my lunch money."

This is a major turn of events for the McCain team. Once this nation is refocussed on foreign policy, and this Biden pitch of a looming international crisis, it will be hard for the MSM and polls and undecided voters to push Obama ahead of McCain.

The senator from Arizona won’t have to “prove” himself to anyone—no renegade or rogue nation, terrorist group, or big shot with a penchant for anti-American bluster will harbor any doubts that John McCain will NOT fear responding for political reasons. I believe most people would feel safer with Old Gramps McCain at the helm during an “international crisis” rather than that young sprightly Mr. Obama.

I'm convinced I am. The kid needs some seasoning in the minors.

Let’s leave the “testing” for the classroom, which is where Mr. Barack Obama frankly belongs anyway.

Addendum: Read what the inimitable Pat Buchanan has to say about Joltin' Joe Biden and how the media has virtually ignored his bombshell statements while rushing to a feeding frenzy about Governor Palin's wardrobe.

JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT GEORGE W. BUSH

HERE ARE JUST A FEW reasons why John Sidney McCain is not and will never be the carbon copy of the current Bush by any measure (thanks to WMCB at the Confluence). That shaky train has left, folks. Get over it, and study these few more pressing facts:

In 2001, he was one of only two Republican Senators to vote against Bush’s tax cuts.

In 2003 he voted against Bush’s second round of tax cuts, calling it “unwise in a time of war”.

He stood up to his party on the torture issue, getting his Detainee Amendment into the appropriations bill despite howls of protest and threats of veto by Bush.

The McCain-Feingold bill, considered McCain’s finest legislative achievement, is one of the strongest campaign finance reform bills in US history.

He defended John Kerry’s war record from the floor of the Republican National Convention in 2004. Word is Bush was pissed at that.

He tried to get the Climate Stewardship Act passed in 2003, and while he failed, he was one of the only Republicans pushing to address the issue at all. He has angered many in his party by his openness to listen to the facts rather than toe the party line on climate change.

He defended a fellow Republican Senator Jim Jeffords, when he switched to Independent and threw senate control to the Dems. Jeffords was being eviscerated for it, and McCain testily called them “self-appointed enforcerrs of party loyalty”, defending Jeffords.

He has worked his tail off for practical, comprehensive immigration reform, addressing security concerns while staying far away from the xenophobic posturing of some on the right.

He helped expose and bring down Jack Abramoff.

He angered his party by leading the “Gang of 14″ to reach a compromise on filibusters.

He was considered to be a favorite for John Kerry’s running mate in 2004. Biden said so. Others said so. If he is such a hard-core conservative as the Left is now trying to paint him, why did many Dems want him on the ticket 4 years ago?

Is McCain everything I want in a president? Not by a long shot. But he is NOT the Bush clone that the Democrats are so suddenly trying to claim he is. It’s baloney.

Now while I realize that a McCain vote is probably not a vote for the GPE (Greatest President Ever), it is a vote however that I can stomach. Baloney (balogna) has never been a favorite of mine, but I do happen to know what it and other processed meat (can you say SPAM?) tastes like. It's called growing up poor...

CANDIDATES AND THEIR ISSUES

LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK at the positions of the four remaining politicians at the top of the two major party tickets. Please take your time. These links are loaded with other links. It is not only imperative to know what a candidate says, but one should know what a candidate has done in the past. While it is tough to gauge what a candidate will do in the future, one's history does play a role. Voting personalities or traditional party line is one matter, voting the for the whole package something quite different. Become an intelligent voter. Know your candidates.

Republican Ticket...
  • John McCain, US Senator, (R-AZ)
  • Sarah Palin, US Governor, (R-AK)

    Democratic Ticket...
  • Barack Obama, US Senator, (D-IL)
  • Joe Biden, US Senator, (D-DE)

Apologies to the campaigns of Ron Paul (R-TX), Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr (R-GA), Chuck Baldwin, Mike Gravel (D-AK), Ralph Nader, and any others of hinterland label who have stumbled onto the ballot somewhere around these fifty (yes, fifty, Senator Obama) states. Two words: snowball's chance. But check out this wonderful resource. Even the hinterlanders have their "say" and "do" memorialized. Even those who didn't make the cut.

    CODE PINKERS ON ICE

Well, our Ladies In Pink are still on the beat...

THERE'S A LOT MORE to this article that you will want to read, and I will want to remember down the road, but here's a taste from Frontpage Magazine:

Code Pink may have become the best exponents of the policies of preemption and profiling in the War on Terror.

Last Tuesday, Sen. Joseph Biden ejected Code Pink protesters set to interrupt General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker's testimony on the state of Iraq. Biden instructed security to eject "the people making noise," and the Capitol police quickly responded, expelling the full Code Pink delegation. The latter stood out from the Hill staffers and military attachés listening respectfully to the hearings for a number of reasons: not least, they were wearing black robes, white skeleton or ghost masks, and gray grease paint. (You can see a video of the whole encouraging incident here.

The best part is when the police refuse to entertain their arguments and make them march back out to the street.) Apparently unfamiliar with the word hubris, Medea Benjamin complained, repeatedly and bitterly, that Sen. Biden called for order to be restored but "the police arbitrarily pulled out people." Her final words, as the police forced the pro-terrorists out of the hallway, were, "Why did I get pulled out?"

Arbitrarily? Why, whatever could have made the police think the professional protesters in Halloween costumes might be up to mischief? Unless the fifth column leftists had been called to testify about the Scream film series, their garb was inappropriate and suspect.

    Read it all.
