OBAMA'S RED MENTOR
THE INFLUENTIAL Associated Press (AP) wire service has belatedly run a story about Barack Obama’s Marxist mentor without mentioning the smoking-gun evidence that the mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a Communist Party member. The dishonest story, which represents damage control for the Obama campaign, was written by AP writer Sudhin Thanawala.
AP is one of the largest news agencies and serves thousands of print and electronic media outlets.
Under the innocuous headline, “Writer offered a young Barack Obama advice on life,” the story calls Davis, a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) when it faithfully echoed the Stalinist line, merely a “left-leaning black journalist and poet” known for “leftist politics” and someone who might be accused by some of having “allegedly anti-American views.”
Davis was not a “journalist” in any real sense of the term. He was a propagandist and racial agitator for the CPUSA. He was also a recruiter for the communist cause.
So let us prepare to watch how Joe Biden fits into these new shoes...

They have it wrong about Frank Marshall Davis. Edgar Tidwell, whom AIM's Cliff Kincaid cites as "an expert on the life and writings of Davis," demolishes right-wing misrepresentation of Davis's radical influence in one simple paragraph:
"Although my research indicates that Davis joined the CPUSA as a "closet member" during World War II, there is no evidence that he was a Stalinist, or even a Party member before WWII. Further, to those attempting to make the specious stand for the concrete, there is no evidence that he instructed Barack Obama in communist ideology. Frank Marshall Davis did NOT believe in overthrowing the USA. He was committed to what the nation professed to be. For him, communism was primarily an intellectual vehicle to achieve a political end-a possible tool for gaining the constitutional freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for ALL Americans." Thanks for comments. Your assertions via Kincaid may, or may not be true, but from my own personal experience, and I have several current associates who unfortunately (in my opinion) call themselves progressive Marxists, Code Pinkers, etc. These folks believe in the unflinching dissolution of capitalism (yes, even state capitalism) while shuffling the deck to distance themselves from the discredited brutal policies of Stalin and Mao. They seem to believe Pollyanna-like that this global union, under control of a "true Marxist leadership" is tantamount to bringing on the promises of the American constitution without regard to the anarchic thuggery that history emphatically teaches us almost always rushes in to fill the void of strength and proven muscle. These same neo-Marxists tend to be absolute pacifists and open border anti-national advocates with whom I vigorously disagree in terms of real threats to the commonwealth. So, while the Left is a wild, wild west of competing ideals, I cannot but find most of these aspired positions in the real world quite weak with regard to facing the very dangerous challenges that face America, the West, and the entire planet at this time.
Thus, it is candidate Barack Obama that concerns me, not Frank Marshall Davis.
